Judy was born August 25, 1944 to Lillian and Earl Wixom in Whittier, California on the day of her Father's
birthday. Judy grew up in Grand Junction Colorado, while in high school she was a cheerleader for the Tiger wrestling
team. The team went on to win many wrestling titles. She graduated from Grand Junction High School in 1962.
After high school she worked the summer at a peach packing plant, then went on to start school at Mesa College
in Grand Junction.
In 1963, she married James Ellis of Aurora, Colorado. Jim joined the Navy in 1965 and they had two children,
Sarah and Scott. During their life together, Judy was a loving mother and Navy Wife. Judy spent her time busy
with the Navy Wives Club, Church Choir, Jobs Daughters, Holy Fools Clown troop, and sewing projects.
Later in her life she met Eric Glass and traveled to Kansas City, Mo. They were married in July 1989. She
worked at the U.S. Marine Finance Center as a Travel Clerk computing Marine travel vouchers for payment.
Judy first discovered her love of singing Barbershop with the Sweet Adelines Chorus in Honolulu. She also
became a member of the Kansas City Chorus of Sweet Adelines in 1987. In 1990 Eric retired and Judy quit her
job, to begin an adventure traveling the U.S. The trip included visiting kids, relatives, and old friends. The first
stop was Salt Lake City where Judy competed with the Kansas City Chorus who took 3rd place in the world. A
first big win and the beginning of many more big wins in the top 10 for years to come.
In September 1992, Eric and Judy bought a house in Kansas City, Mo. and became permanent residents. In
2013, they moved to their current retirement home in Raymore, Missouri. Judy attended church at Blue Ridge
Presbyterian Church and continued her love of singing with the KC Chorus, looking forward to the next
International competition, October, 2017 in Las Vegas, NV.
Judy is survived by her husband, Eric Glass; daughter, Sarah Van Den Hout, husband Jene of Mesa, AZ; son,
Scott Ellis, wife Rosali of Oak Harbor, WA; grandchildren Thomas, Grace, Carrie, Phillip, Scott, Jr., William,
Kayla and Samantha; two great grandchildren; Niece, Debbie Eaves, husband Mike and family of Farmington,
UT; Nephew, Rod Wixom, wife Christy and family of Colorado Springs, CO.
