Virgil C. Saunders, 85, of Kansas City, KS, passed away peacefully Monday, May 15th, 2017 at his residence. Memorial ceremony will be from 5:00-7:00 pm, with a service held at 6 pm, on Tuesday, May 23rd at Chapel Hill-Butler Funeral Home 701 N. 94th St. K.C.K. 66112. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society. Virgil was born May 3rd, 1932 in Wickham, West Virginia and married Delores (Doe) Walters July 5th, 1952 in Mabscott, WV. Virgil and Doe moved to the Midwest in 1954, and raised their family in Kansas City, KS. Virgil retired in 1994, after being in the dairy industry providing processing and pasteurizing services to Foremost, Meyer, and Fairmont Dairies for over 40 years. Virgil is survived by sisters; Betty, Martha, and Helen; brothers, David, Kenny, and Charles; sister in-law, Patricia Farmer; children, daughters, Sharon Knapp (Don) and Cheryl Saunders and son, Don Saunders (Michelle); grandchildren, Mindy Knapp, Mark Jensen, Lori Yslas, Brita Horton, Chris Kirchner, Tina Kirchner, Lindsay Saunders, Taylor Saunders, Kyle Saunders, and Clint Saunders; 14 great grandchildren and 5 great-great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife Delores; son Ronald, and daughter Doris. Virgil leaves behind a legacy of laughter, selfless giving, loyalty, humility, compassion, strong will, unconditional love, and a solid foundation of what it means to be a good man. He will be missed dearly and forever adored by many.
